What is "Genre" and what is the "Thriller Genre"

Definition of Genre: The way in which a film is categorised by its main themes. I.e. A film, in which the plot leads two characters in to falling in love with each other, could be given the genre of romance. Films do not just have to one genre .i.e. if in the same film, in which the plot leads two characters in to falling in love with each other, they both happen to be spy’s who live on mars in the year 2100, where the aliens population is evil and trying to destroy the human population. The two characters have to fight their way through hordes of aliens...and so on; this film could be labelled as a romantic, sci-fi, action film.

What is the thriller genre: A thriller can be defined as "the sudden rush of emotions, the excitement, sense of suspense, apprehension, and exhilaration that drive the narrative, sometimes subtly with peaks and lulls, sometimes at a constant, breakneck pace.”. In my opinion a film with the genre of thriller, should thrill its audience, the audience should always be kept guessing on what is about to happen next and always sitting on the edge of their seat.
