A walk on the Wild side intro

Titles: The opening titles for this film are the usual thriller syle of white against black, these are capitalised and in a serif font, this stands out to the viewer without being to eye catching as to draw effec away fron the camera shots.

Camera: The scene uses many shots including close up, birds eye view, long shot, mid shot and so on. during the fight some extreme close ups are used.

Editing: The sequence is quite slow paced to make the audience feel that the cat is dominant in his home/ place of staying and becomes more and more dominant throughout the shots. as the audience tracks the cat this is reinforced by the dissolves between shots. however when the fight brakes out the pace picks up and the shots are far more sharp and violent. this signifies a thriller as there is usually violence in after a build up in the intro of a thriller.

Sound: There is a non-digetic sound track of orchestral music through out the sequence, getting louder and the pace changes to run parallel to the video. The music helps to keep the pace for this sequence, towards the end the scene the sound fades out and signifying the end of the scene.

Mise en scene: at the opening the audience sees the cat walking through what appears to be a construction yard with many concrete pipes, we can also assume that the cat is a stray as most cats do not wander in to building sites. the cats setting tell us what sort of cat it is, a strong confident and brave cat who owns the street.

Sin City intro

Titles: None, this is unusual as most thriller's have titles, i believe this has been used to make a statement when the actual titles are shown.

Camera: The film opens with a long shot of the woman with her central to her surroundings.in the next shot she is slightly to the right, and a man in centralized, as he walks closer to the woman he grows in size(perspective), this shes he is more dominant than the woman. The conversation is then shown by a series of closeups of each character, this represents continuity. There is a close up of a lighter and a cigarette, the flame signifies danger, but the cigarette signifies that the woman is relaxed and unafraid. there is then a long shot of the couple kissing and then a cut to a mid shot of the man killing the woman.this is a common theme in the thriller genre.

Mise en Scene: The scene is set on the balcony of a hotel or restaurant which looks over a busy city, the light is minimal and low key, this is conventional of a thriller.

Editing: the scene has been edited to create a slow mood conversation so the cuts are straight but spaced far apart. all colour has been removed except for the blood red of the woman's dress and lipstick, there is also a moment when the man mentions the woman's eyes and they light up green and then fade back to black and white.

Sound: The scene opens with jazz/lounge music played softly in the background this runs throughout the clip. it is accompanied by non digetic narrative to keep the story running for the viewer. the narrative is continued and played out in digetic conversation. the whole time you can hear the ambient sounds of the city

As the scene begins low key non-diegetic jazz/soul music is played in the background, followed by non-diegetic narrative to keep the pace of the scene, the narrative is reinforced by diegetic conversation for continuity, accompanied by the ambient sounds of the city creating realism.

Seven Intro

Camera: Close ups and extreme close ups are used through out the opening credits. all the shots are short.

Titles: The opening titles look to be handwritten is freehand (not straight)and appears to be scribbled because the spacings are all out.this is iconic of a horror because it makes the viewer uneasy. also the white text against a black background is also iconic.

Editing: The editing is set at the same pace as the sound, very jumpy. there are a lot of cuts and a lot of overlapping footage, this makes the viewer uncomfortable almost as if they themselves are going slightly insane.

Mise en Scene: The scene seems to be shot in a house or office because it is dark and there seems to be only one character.there are many shots of a notebook in which a lot of text is written in the same style as the font used in the titles. there is a shot of a razor blade that connects to a shot further in, in which the characters fingers are bandaged up with blood on them. this tells the viewer that the charachter is trying to hide there identity or is depressed and elf harming this is stereotypical of horror film villain

Sound: The majority of the sound is non-digetic in the form of music. which is very jumpy and is unsettling to hear, the other sounds are a-synchronus and are out of time with the shot.
